Coronavirus roundup: Developments in India and rest of world

The number of novel coronavirus cases rose to 606 on Wednesday with 10 deaths being recorded across the country, a health ministry official said. The number of active cases is 553. The Centre asked the states to take all possible steps to ensure that people do not suffer for essentials due to the 21-day lockdown enforced across India.

  • Tamil Nadu: Neuberg Diagnostics starts Covid-19 testing in Chennai after ICMR nod. All students from first to ninth standard to be promoted, the state announced
  • Uttar Pradesh: Government banned manufacture and sale of pan masala, saying the move will help stop the spread of virus
  • Odisha: CM Naveen Patnaik announced four months’ advance salary for doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff
  • Bihar: CM Nitish Kumar announced that all ration card holding families will get an assistance of Rs 1,000 each
