The Marayoor Jaggery, the traditional and handmade product from Idukki district of Kerala, received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the Central Government.

In Marayur and Kanthallur grama panchayats of Kerlala, jaggery is produced without adding any chemicals.

The distinct features of the Marayur Jaggery are high sweetness with less saltiness, high content of iron and less sodium.
