India seeks DAC approval to procure SPIKE missiles from Israel
The Army has brought its idea to buy the Spike anti-tank guided missiles from Israel before the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) for approval. DAC is to conduct some validation trials for the procurement process. The deal is for 170 launchers, 4,500 missiles and 15 simulators.
Spike is a fourth-generation, man-portable missile, fire-and-forget Israeli missile manufactured by Israel’s Rafael.
Earlier in January, the deal was cancelled saying the requirement can be met through the indigenous man-portable missile being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
